good cd(s) to check out

if you have the chance, i strongly recommend that you listen to or purchase the self-titled "little joy" cd, out on rough trade. it came out the day of the election, and has a really nostalgic feel to it, rather breezy and light. it's especially good cause it has rodrigo amarante from los hermanos on it, in addition to fabrizio moretti from the strokes and binki shapiro. also, really cool cd artwork (as shown above).

-also-
never to be underestimated, marcelo camelo's (of los hermanos, as well) new cd "sou" is also fantastic, at moments more stripped down, but still really light, happy feel, probably the highlight would be the already wildly popular "janta" in Brazil. seems like amarante and camelo are on the same wavelength in terms of tones.

we did it! yes we did!

halleluia! we did it, we elected mr. barack obama to lead the United States of America! i am vindicated in my belief that the people will make the right choice! it may have taken us 8 years of enduring the bush doctrine and administration to open people's eyes, and the final blow was dealt via the economy that was crippled due to reaganomics and lack of regulation in the markets by the government (both parties were guilty in my opinion), but we're back in it! yesterday i was blissfully happy, as i am today. may we keep our hopes high, but make the changes we need now by supporting our new president and uniting the country!
abraços,

p.s. above photo the 3k people who celebrated here in seattle, in capitol hill.

election, 2008:

may this election lead to the presidency of Barack Obama. i am hoping that throughout the nation, change comes to this country, and people will wake up, seeking out to re-establish and fix our country profoundly. vastly encouraging to see the large numbers of people coming to the polls. i've already volunteered this morning to knock on doors throughout the seattle area, and was glad to see so many joining together!
